It was on the Mother Road that the Father spoke healing to me.
The 2200 mile road trip spanning from California to Kentucky, included an 1800 mile stretch of Interstate-40 intertwining with Historic Route 66. The destination: Monticello, Kentucky. The purpose: to attend the 30-year High School Reunion I had so graciously been invited to. I didn’t actually graduate from Monticello High School, but I should have. You’d have to know the whole story to understand that part. Pick up a copy of inJustice if you’d like to know more.
For me, Route 66 was not just the Mother Road taking me from one side of the United States to the other, back to my hometown in Kentucky … it was a living experience with the Word of God. By the way, the Bible has 66 books.
I will forever be grateful for the way I was truly guided home.

Chapter Seven
Some days we played jacks on the kitchen floor, right in the middle of the busyness of her big family living life. It was always loud at her house, but it was a good loud. Somehow, I belonged there. I was theirs and they were mine.

Chapter Six
Today was a fun day laced with comical moments. I battled a southern bug while driving down the highway, witnessed a shirtless 18-wheel truck driver flying down the highway at 80mph, performing his own rendition of a Metallica concert…

Chapter Five
Bottle Tree Park and Cadillac Ranch were the two MUST SEE’s on my list of things to do while exploring Rt 66. As I approached Cadillac Ranch I wondered if it were possible for there to be anything even similar to the unexpected & amazing experience I had at Bottle Tree Park a few days prior.

Chapter Four
Driving all day, the miles added up. Nightfall hit, along with a lightning storm. It was not a small one either. The land was very flat and I was surrounded by lightning. Several small storms were off in the distance, but the one right in front of me had me gripping the steering wheel tight.

Chapter Three
With car windows down, the freedom of the open road was exactly what I needed after such a deep spiritual experience at Bottle Tree park just a few short hours ago. The wind blew through the car allowing me to breathe freely. My spirit was calm and silenced. I could feel the experience settling even deeper within my spirit, rooting itself.

Chapter Two
When preparing for my road trip, I googled to find photography worthy spots to visit along Route 66. Bottle Tree park was the first of 26 planned stops. As a photographer it was exciting to imagine bottles on trees with light shining on and through them. The images could be amazing.
It never occurred to me what the sound might be like.

Chapter One
In the midst all the chaos and trauma of Scott’s addiction, yesterday happened to be one of the best days of my life.
